Rooted in Mission, Ready to Serve: Forming Hearts the Manresan Way

The beginning of a new school year marks more than just the turning of a calendar page - it represents a fresh opportunity to foster growth, connection, and excellence in education. For the new teachers and staff, this journey begins with a vital five-day pre-in-service training designed to provide the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive. Guided by the belief that "it takes a village to raise a child," the training emphasizes collaboration, shared responsibility, and the importance of every role within the school community.

On the first day of the pre-in-service training, the new faculty and staff members were introduced to the inspiring life and legacy of the Mother Foundress, Saint Candida Maria de Jesus. Through an engaging session facilitated by Sr. Edhen Mae R. Paranga, F.I., participants learned about the journey of Saint Candida, including the steps she took to build the Congregation and her deep faith that guided her actions, decision and vocation. The stories of her perseverance and unwavering trust in God deeply resonated with the attendees. Teacher Ruth Rosales from the Grade School Department expressed, "Nakakatuwa, nakaka-inspire", while Ms. Liezel Umali from the Junior High School Department reflected, "Siya (Mother Candida) ay proof na walang impossible. Despite the challenges, basta matibay ang paniniwala mo kay Lord, lahat ng mabibigat ay gumagaan through prayer." Building on this foundation, the new educators were then introduced to Our Characteristic Way of Educating (OCWE). This session served as a meaningful bridge between the Foundress' legacy and the present-day mission of the school, setting the tone for the rest of the week’s formation activities.

Following the inspiring session on the life and legacy of the school’s Mother Foundress, the succeeding days of the training delved into the core principles and identity of the institution. Participants engaged in reflective discussions with Ms. Imelda Solivet on the school’s Vision, Mission, and Institutional Objectives, gaining a deeper understanding of the values that guide its educational philosophy and long-term goals. This was followed by an insightful exploration of the school’s unique culture and rich history led by Mr. Patrick Bugay, which allowed new teachers and staff to connect with its traditions and community spirit. The training also included a key session on the school’s Pastoral Ministry Sector, headed by Mr. Dan Mark Geronimo, the session covered initiatives like retreats, counseling services, and outreach activities, all aimed at fostering holistic development—body, mind, and spirit.

The new faculty and staff members of Manresa attended a series of orientation sessions designed to familiarize them with key institutional programs and practices. Mr. Emson Petilla introduced the Global Compact on Education, while Ms. Marjorie Grefal discussed both the Mentoring Program and the Faculty Handbook. Ms. Edarly Lumbao presented the Guidance Program, and Sr. Lorna Genovate, FI, provided an overview of Compensation and Benefits. Ms. Yolanda Cruz led a session on Personality Development, and Mr. Fredie Rick Llorando shared insights on Educational Technology. For Classroom Management, breakout sessions were held, separating Junior High School and Senior High School from the Grade School Department to address their specific routines and practices.

The following week, the new members of the Manresan Faculty and Staff were immersed in sessions that discuss the different services and offices of the educational institution such as: Mentoring Program, Registrar Services, LRC Program, Community Extension and Service Program, Discipline Orientation, Apostolic Calls, Quality Assurance and Career Pathing.

The teachers and staff were also introduced to PAASCU, its purpose, and the upcoming visit. The Orientation was presented by Mr. Eleazar Solas who explained the components, sectors, and areas that need extensive preparation as the Junior High School will open its doors to the re-accreditation this November 2025.

To fully close the Pre-In-Service Training of the new members of the Manresan community, the teachers and staff had their Recollection with Sr. Marianita C. Tenoso, FI. where Metamorphosis and Pruning Process was thoroughly explained. The new members were also divided into smaller groups for their group sharing headed by the other FI sisters: Sr. Pacita, Sr. Gemma, Sr. Nitz, and Sr. Fe. This recollection provided an avenue for the new members to come together, celebrate the love of Jesus, and deepen their faith in the Almighty God.

The eight-day pre-in-service training for the new members of Manresa School was a meaningful and enriching experience that laid a strong foundation for their journey within the institution. By revisiting the core values of the school and engaging in sessions on essential topics such as educational philosophy, mentoring, guidance, compensation, classroom management, and technology, the participants were holistically prepared for their roles. The training not only equipped them with practical knowledge and skills but also deepened their understanding of Manresan Maxim: Tatak Manresa, Kapatid sa Kapwa. Looking back, the program successfully fostered a sense of unity, purpose, and readiness among the new faculty and staff as they began their mission of forming minds and hearts in the spirit of faith and service.By:
