Kadulayaw Brings Compassion to Life with "La Pieta”

On February 5, 2026, the stage became a sanctuary as Kadulayaw opened its latest production, La Pieta. Through two distinct performances, the group managed to bridge the generational gap, delivering a powerful message that resonated with the pupils in Grade School Department and to the students in High School Department alike.

La Pieta the Musical dives deeper into the social fabric of our lives, tackling the vital importance of education as a tool for growth and the transformative power of second chances. At the center of the narrative is a stirring tribute to love for the family, illustrating that our strongest bonds are often our greatest teachers. Perhaps most moving is the production's emphasis on the spirit of Kapatid sa Kapwa. The performers moved as one to show that we are all interconnected, urging the audience to treat every stranger with the same empathy they would show their own kin.

Rooted in the meeting of past and present, La Pieta unfolded as a reflection on compassion—how it survives time and remains deeply human. Through deliberate movement, imagery, and storytelling, the production invited the audience to pause, feel, and remember.

The production is presented in special collaboration with the Blessed Candida Maria Foundation (BCMF) on the occasion of their 25th founding anniversary. Beyond the artistry on display, the play serves a greater purpose: the proceeds from the performances will help finance the foundation’s various programs and outreach activities, extending the show’s message of compassion into real-world impact.

The success of the opening performances was only the beginning. For those who have not yet had the chance to witness this moving portrayal, Kadulayaw is offering an encore.

La Pieta continues its run with a final scheduled performance on February 8, 2026. It is a rare opportunity to see local art that challenges the mind while comforting the soul.
