A Journey of Repentance and Renewal: Ash Wednesday at Manresa School

The Manresa School community gathered in solemn prayer today to mark the beginning of Lent with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist for Ash Wednesday. Manresa School FI Sisters, students, faculty, and staff transitioned into this season of reflection, penance, and spiritual growth.

The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Julius Anave, whose presence provided a grounded and relatable spiritual guide for the MS Educative community. During his homily, Fr. Julius delved into the true meaning of Lent, explaining that sacrifice is not just about "giving things up," but about making room for God. Whether it is fasting from social media or choosing kindness over conflict, these acts are meant to strengthen one’s character. He reminded the community that the ashes on their foreheads are an outward sign of an inward commitment to change. The homily challenged everyone to find practical ways to serve others, turning personal sacrifices into communal blessings. The Eucharistic celebration was thoughtfully sponsored by the Grade 6 level.

As the "Manresa family" received their ashes, the message was clear: Lent is a gift—an opportunity to hit the reset button on our spiritual lives and return to what truly matters.
