Striving for Excellence: Manresans Took the National Achievement Test (NAT)

On March 3, 2026, students from Grades 3, Grade 6, Grade 10 and Grade 12 were selected to participate in the National Achievement Test (NAT). The NAT is administered by the Department of Education (DepEd). This nationwide assessment aims to evaluate whether learners are receiving the quality of education they need and deserve. Through the results of this test, the Department can better understand students’ strengths and areas for improvement, and use the data to enhance teaching strategies and learning programs in schools.

To describe the flow of the test, the selected pupils were escorted to the examination venue, which was set up Senior High School classrooms to provide a quiet and organized testing environment. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by survey administrators from a different school to ensure fairness and objectivity in the administration of the test. The administrators carefully distributed the test booklets containing the questionnaires and gave clear instructions before the examination officially began.

At the start of the test, students were asked to provide important personal information. This was followed by a series of questions covering various aspects of their lives, including their personal background, home environment, and school experiences. These questions were designed not only to measure academic performance but also to gather relevant information that could help explain factors affecting student learning. The pupils answered attentively and did their best to respond thoughtfully to each item.

After the written test, selected students were randomly selected for a short interview. The purpose of the interview was to determine whether the questions in the test were clear, understandable, and appropriate for their level. The administrators asked the students about their experience during the test and whether they encountered any difficulties in understanding the instructions or the items.

In conclusion, participating in the National Achievement Test taught us valuable lessons. It reminded us that honesty is essential, especially when answering questions that reflect our real experiences and situations. Even when the truth may be difficult to share, being truthful helps ensure that the results accurately represent our reality. The experience also encouraged us to always do our best—not only for our own growth, but for the improvement of our school and the education system as a whole. Overall, the National Achievement Test highlighted the importance of integrity, responsibility, and perseverance, especially when our efforts can contribute to something greater than ourselves.
