Level 7: Unlocked! — Preparing Grade 6 Learners for the Journey to Junior High School

Not long ago, our biggest problem was forgetting our PT materials, now we’re preparing for Grade 7. Grade 6 felt like both a blink and a lifetime at the same time. We walked in unsure, some shy, some confident and curious, but all of us trying to figure out how this could be harder than Grade 5 ever was. Along the way, we made friends, strengthened our bonds, made mistakes, laughed too loud, and cried quietly once we submitted that one assignment too late. At least all of us learned more than just equations and history, we learned about ourselves.

March 11, 2026, the Grade 6 Transition Program, entitled “Level 7: Unlocked!”, was held on to prepare the Grade 6 learners for their next academic journey in Junior High School. The activity prepared by the Manresa School Guidance Counselors aimed to support students in their transition by developing their social awareness and emotional readiness. It also provided a safe and encouraging environment where learners could express their concerns while gaining knowledge about what to expect in Grade 7 and building confidence in their ability to adapt.

The program started with an opening prayer led by Rafen Alexander Aquino. This transition program featured several informative discussions from invited speakers. Ms. Tess Llorando introduced the MS Scholarship opportunities available to students. Ms. Francisca Robles, the Junior High School Counselor for Girls, shared practical strategies and advice to help learners prepare for academic success, social adjustment, and personal well-being in high school. Meanwhile, Ms. Portia Mascarinas discussed the routines, expectations, and school activities that students will experience in the Junior High School Department.

Students also heard real-life experiences from Marco Joaquin Bisuna, a Grade School alumnus, and Ulik Joaquin Romaquin, a new student, who shared their personal stories about adjusting to Junior High School. Their experiences helped the Grade 6 learners gain a clearer picture of what lies ahead. During the forum, students were also given the opportunity to ask questions to the invited speakers, allowing them to address their concerns and better prepare for the transition.

As part of the program, the Grade 6 learners toured the Junior High School campus to become familiar with the different facilities they will soon use. This activity helped them feel more comfortable and excited about entering a new learning environment. After this, Marie Raphaelle Librea delivered the Words of Gratitude and the activity concluded with a closing prayer led by Gabrielle Anne Tavios.

As the Transition Program ended with applause, the same applause will soon welcome the batch as they step onto next school year. Through this, students were able to reflect on their Grade 6 journey while preparing themselves for the opportunities and responsibilities that await them in Junior High School. With new experiences ahead, the learners now step forward with greater confidence, carrying with them the lessons, friendships, and memories they gained during their Grade School years.
