JHS Bible Week 2025: A Celebration of Hope

In solidarity with the Church, the Junior High School department celebrated Bible Week 2025 last January 27 - 31, 2025, with a theme, God’s Word: Source of Hope (Harmony, Obedience, Peace, Empowerment).

On the first day of Bible Week, a special welcome awaited all members of the school community. As students, faculty, and guests arrived at the main entrance (Gate 11), they were greeted by a musical ensemble composed of select teachers. This harmonious welcome set the tone for the week's spiritual focus. Concurrent with the musical performance, designated students distributed bookmarks adorned with inspiring verses from the Bible. These bookmarks served as a tangible reminder of the week's theme and a source of encouragement throughout the academic year.

To formally commence Bible Week 2025, a captivating series of short monologues showcased renowned Biblical characters. These engaging presentations served as an introduction to the week's festivities and encouraged active participation from the entire school community. Following these performances, a detailed schedule of exciting Bible Week activities was unveiled. This special program took place in the gymnasium immediately after the daily Flag Ceremony. To add a festive and inspiring atmosphere, the covered hallways leading to the gymnasium were adorned with a vibrant floral archway. In addition, informative displays showcasing key categories of the books of the Bible were prominently featured on the bulletin boards.

Every day, the teacher adviser conducted daily interactive trivia sessions to foster student engagement and cultivate a vibrant learning environment. Three engaging questions were posed each day during the normalization period. Swift and accurate responses were rewarded with instant prizes, creating a fun and motivating learning experience. Furthermore, to cultivate a deeper spiritual connection within the classroom, a dedicated time for Scripture reading was integrated into the daily prayer routine. Each class commenced with the reading of a selected portion from the Gospels, focusing on the parables of Jesus. This initiative aimed to read 35 parables within Bible Week, utilizing them as sources of hope and inspiration for the students.

A designated area in the school entrance was transformed into a vibrant creative hub. Students were invited to engage in a diverse range of enriching activities, including (a) coloring, (b) puzzle-solving, (c) short quizzes, (d) creative writing, and (e) quiet reading. This space provided a stimulating environment for students to explore their interests and engage in meaningful self-expression. The same set-up was made in the library.

To integrate the Jubilee 2025 during the Bible Week celebration, Luce, the official mascot, was introduced. Her image was prominently displayed throughout the school, serving as a visual symbol of hope and inspiration. Accompanying each display was a selection of uplifting Bible verses related to hope, readily available for anyone seeking encouragement and guidance.

Every Grade level actively participated to promote the Bible Week celebration. Grade 7 students initiated a creative project to cultivate a heightened awareness of Bible Week and inspire a deeper appreciation for God's Word. A week prior to Bible Week, they crafted eye-catching hanging displays featuring biblical passages. These signages adorned the campus, serving as both visually engaging decorations and subtle reminders of the week's spiritual focus. On the other hand, to foster a spirit of service and encourage reflection, a dedicated group of Grade 8 students (one section per day) was assigned daily to welcome the school community. Each morning, these student ambassadors distributed bookmarks featuring inspiring messages as students and teachers entered the school premises. These bookmarks were prepared ahead of time by students as part of their CLE class activity. During recess, a group of Grade 9 students (one section per day) presented a captivating video of their previous PT to share the Gospel message with their peers. Concurrently, they distributed inspiring button pins adorned with uplifting Bible verses to the student body, which they prepared ahead of time as part of their CLE class activity. This engaging campaign activity took place in the school canteen, providing a dynamic and accessible platform for sharing faith. Finally, during the lunch break, a group of Grade 10 students led engaging Biblical games designed for the younger grades. As part of their CLE class, these students were responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating these interactive games. This fun-filled activity was held in the gymnasium, providing a lively, spacious, and inclusive environment for all participants.

To reinforce the value of faith, students engaged in a collaborative Bible-based activity during their Values Education (VE) class. Working together, they solved a challenging crossword puzzle where all clues were derived directly from sacred scripture. This interactive exercise encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the wisdom and guidance found within the Bible.

As part of their CLE class, students participated in a meaningful spiritual experience. They were guided to the chapel for a brief and reflective Bible prayer service. A key component of this experience involved writing personal intentions for prayer and reflection. These heartfelt expressions were thoughtfully displayed on the bulletin board, creating a space for shared intentions and encouraging regular visits to the chapel for personal prayer and contemplation.

As a culminating activity, a stimulating 30-item quiz bee was held for both faculty and students to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Biblical narratives. Teachers competed during their Faculty Development period, while students engaged in the competition during their BEC time. Exciting prizes awaited the top performers in each category, encouraging active learning and friendly competition among the participants. After the weeklong activity, winners of the different activities were acknowledged and given prizes.
