Manresa School’s JHS Department Undergoes PAASCU Level III Reaccreditation Visit
NOV 21
The pursuit of academic excellence and institutional integrity is a continuous endeavor for any educational institution. For Manresa School, this commitment was formally evaluated when the Junior High School (JHS) Department underwent a crucial accreditation visit from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) on Monday and Tuesday, November 17 and 18. This event was not merely a routine visitation; it was an intensive, two-day validation process designed to measure the quality of education and the overall institutional capacity of the JHS Department.
The arrival on the visiting team, prior to the two-days formal visit, was marked by a palpable sense of anticipation and warm hospitality by the top level administrators. On the first day of visit, the accreditors were formally received by the school's administrative team, members of the dedicated faculty and staff, and the student body. Throughout the day, a select group of dedicated SHS student volunteers assumed the role of official guides. These students played a vital role, not only in navigating the guests across the campus but also in providing the accreditors with an authentic glimpse into student life. The evaluative activities included direct observations of classroom instruction, allowing the team to assess pedagogical approaches, curriculum delivery, and student engagement. Furthermore, crucial one-on-one and group interviews were conducted with key stakeholders- parents, MSAPA, BCMF and amlumni, whose feedback provided invaluable perspectives on the lasting impact and effectiveness of a Manresa School education.
The second day continued the detailed evaluation and panel interview with the group of selected students and teachers respectively. This day often focuses on the evaluation of less visible but equally critical areas, such as administrative systems, library and laboratory resources, student services and community engagement through the outreach programs and services with the partner community. The heart of the second day, however, culminated in an initial report that took place in the afternoon. During this time, the accreditors present their preliminary findings to the school administration. This session is critical, as it highlights areas of strength that warrant commendations and pinpoints specific recommendations for improvement that the school must address to maintain the level III accredited status.
The success of the PAASCU visit was a product of widespread institutional collaboration. The meticulous preparation from the school faculty and administration, the detailed and organized information provided by the various areas, groups and sectors, and the maturity and assistance offered by the student guide volunteers all converged to create a seamless and professional presentation of the school's strengths. The comprehensive and organized effort displayed by the JHS department and the entire Manresa community helped to conclude the visit on a high note, confidently aspiring for a fruitful success and the renewed validation of the quality education.
