Fourteen Stations of Sacrifice: Manresa School Honors the Way of the Cross
Lent is the sacred forty-day season of the Catholic Church. It invites the faithful to reflect the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ through prayers, almsgiving, and sacrifice.
On February 27, 2026, students, faculty, and staff from the Manresan community gathered outside early in the morning around the field to commemorate the Way of the Cross, also known as the Stations of the Cross. Through this prayerful atmosphere, the school grounds became a place of reflection, silence, and reverence for Christ’s journey to his crucifixion.
After teachers assembled their students in their designated places in the school grounds, the solemn activity began with the sign of the cross. Fourteen stations were placed around the field, each representing an important moment from Christ’s journey to the Calvary. As selected Grade School and Junior High School MSGSB officers and altar servers moved from one station to another, the rest of the community stood in reverence, listened to the moment of each station, and offered prayers in sacred silence. Once the community reached the last station, everyone joined in for the final prayers, and left the venue with sacred silence and realization in their hearts.
This activity served as a powerful reminder of Christ’s unconditional love and sacrifice for us. Through this observance, the Manresan family demonstrated their unity and love for one another in their faith, preparing their hearts for the continuation of Lent, and all the way to His resurrection.
